A New Collection
A new collection of giclee prints have arrived! My whole ethos as a contemporary printmaker and designer is to make my work chic yet accessable. My design inspiration comes from various places including Australian designers like Mosey Me, to big design companies such as Marimekko or even fashion designers like Oscar De La Renta. I love how print and design can vary so incredibly from the print itself to the fabric, paper-type and printing on three dimensional forms. Wearable art is such a fashion statement these days and I love seeing businesses like Gorman employing artists and utilising their designs on fabric.
I have always been a bit print-obsessed and I think that fabrics and the sense of movement you can achieve from a print is quite fascinating. This can be achieved with layering, mixed media, digital art and my hand-painted elements. I always want to create something that will inspire and I love how prints can create an echo through pattern, it can stimulate concepts such as memories, the repetition can emphasise subject matter and can also create a shading of ‘thoughts’. It can subtle or it can be bold. Meanings can be deliberate but it can shift, alter the perspective and then be recreated into something new.
My experimentation with these giclee prints have evolved from my recent exhibition ‘Architect of Dreams’ where I am on a journey as an artist, printmaker and mother. I am exploring my identity, finding myself again after birth and dreaming about new possibilities. I’m realising that life itself keeps going, changing, evolving, and our choices and decisions slowly shape that path. Maybe travelling isn’t really about the destination after all but rather the journey. Through my original etchings, I have digitally altered and changed my work to create new giclee prints. Here I have been able to take certain elements of the original work and layer, soften, explore repetition and create new pieces.
My collection of giclee prints are at a much lower price point. They are digital prints - not my original, hand printed and painted etchings. They are digital prints that are printed on my archival printer with archival inks. They are really good quality prints however they are not etchings and I do larger editions of 100. Prices are between $49.00 - $99.00 and I offer A4 and A3 sizes. I find these giclee prints to be very popular for offices, air-bnb, small business and gifts.
