Just Married!
I never thought I would be writing a blog post about my wedding ( or, elopement rather) but here I am blushing slightly as I do. I think as an artist, I always thought my life would be slightly tortured with darkness and emotion. I'm still not convinced I won't have these moments, but what I am convinced of, is that through those dark moments that seem to be thrown at us, a beautiful light can appear. I'm so pleased I got to see a glimpse of that beautiful light, because this day was one of the best I have had.
On the 18th of March I got to marry my best friend, Tim. We got married in a beautiful spot in Noosa and it was just so special to spend it with our very closest family. It's funny (sort of) looking back now because almost everything went wrong in the lead up to our ceremony. The week leading up to our wedding, the weather in Brisbane had been shocking with lots of rain and storms. I was dealing with some health issues of my own so I wasn't feeling very well, the wedding flowers weren't quite right, the lady delivering our cake had a small car accident (she is fine though!) and there were a few covid-19 cases in Brisbane at the time. We really dodged many bullets on the way to our marriage, but I am just so grateful to be with someone who is so supportive of my practice and career. My whole studio has basically been built by Tim. He hangs my artworks, cooks me dinner when I have to work late, vacuums my studio when I get too busy and often drops my orders to the post office.
Needless to say, I am very grateful to this other half of mine. I wanted to share a few photos of our day below with you all:
I think this day just really confirmed how much of a romantic I am and how important romance is in my own practice. There is a sense of hope that comes from romanticism. Here are a few etchings inspired by this hopeless romanticist!...
